The Vistas Film Festival is a five-day international film festival highlighting films by or about Latinos or Latino culture from across the world. Since its inception in 1999, the Vistas Film Festival has presented more than 300 films, of which 95 percent never returned to the Dallas/Ft. Worth Area.

The Vistas Film Festival has and continues to present films that represent a diverse mix of cultures. While the purpose of the festival is to highlight works by or about Latinos, the realty is that Latinos as a culture are incredibly diverse – a fact exemplified in the nature of the films presented and the relative countries of origin.

The festival is organized and run by a diverse set of volunteer committees that include members of many communities: Anglo-American, Mexican-American, African-American, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Mexican, Colombian and more. The result is an international festival that grows from the community as opposed to one that is simply provided to the community.

The Vistas Film Festival is a program of the Herculano & Elida Hernandez Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization devoted to promoting Latino culture through arts and education. Call 214-887-9048 or visit www.hyehernandez.org for more.
